A Smooth Sea Never Made a Skilled Sailor Living Room Wall Decal

A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. An old sailing proverb that has outlived every century it passed through, because the idea holds anywhere: calm water teaches nothing. Set in a high contrast serif that steps down the wall, word by word - designed for living rooms, hallways, stairwells and studies.

Application and surfaces

Our decals stick to almost any smooth, flat surface - painted walls, mirrors, windows, glass, finished wood, tile, and furniture. They also work on lightly textured walls.

A few surfaces to avoid: heavily textured walls, freshly painted walls (wait 3-4 weeks for paint to cure) and some washable or low-VOC paints. If you're unsure about your wall, contact us before ordering, we're happy to help.

Decals are removable without damaging your paint, but cannot be repositioned or reused once applied.
